.This match marked Cummins’ 38th Test as captain. He now holds an average of just over 22 in matches leading Australia, including nine five-wicket hauls and one four-wicket haul. The record places him alongside Imran Khan, widely regarded as one of cricket’s most successful fast-bowling captains.

Earlier in the match, Cummins also dismissed Joe Root for the 13th time in red-ball cricket, making him the bowler with the most dismissals of the former England captain. His performance moved him to sixth place on Australia’s all-time list of leading Test wicket-takers, surpassing Mitchell Johnson.

Cummins missed the first two Tests of the Ashes series due to injury but returned strongly in Adelaide, demonstrating both his leadership and bowling skills. Analysts say his performance underlines his significance in Australia’s Test lineup, particularly in high-pressure matches against England.

The milestone adds to Pat Cummins’ growing list of achievements as captain and cements his place among the elite fast-bowling leaders in the history of Test cricket.
