Nicki Minaj Praises Trump and JD Vance at Turning Point USA Event in Arizona

Rapper Nicki Minaj made a surprise appearance Sunday at AmericaFest in Arizona. The event was organized by Turning Point USA. Minaj praised President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance. She called them “role models” for young men.

Minaj appeared on stage for a Q&A session with Erika Kirk. Kirk is the widow of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk and now leads the organization. Minaj said Trump and Vance connect strongly with everyday Americans.

“I’m honored to be here,” Minaj said as she took the stage, drawing applause from the audience. She went on to express admiration for Trump and Vance, saying both leaders have an “uncanny” ability to relate to ordinary Americans. “I love both of them,” she told attendees.

Minaj’s appearance marked a notable moment in her evolving political stance. In the past, she had supported Democratic figures and openly criticized Trump. However, her recent comments and public actions suggest a shift toward conservative positions, particularly on cultural and religious issues.

During the discussion, Minaj also addressed violence against Christians in Nigeria, an issue she has spoken about previously at the United Nations. She referenced a recent social media post in which she shared a statement by Trump warning that Christianity faces serious threats in Nigeria. Minaj said religious persecution should be condemned regardless of political differences.

The rapper also took aim at California Governor Gavin Newsom, mocking him with a nickname previously used by Trump. Newsom, a Democrat, is widely seen as a potential presidential contender in 2028.

One brief moment on stage drew attention when Minaj mistakenly referred to Vice President Vance as an “assassin” while praising him. Erika Kirk quickly reassured her, turning the slip into a moment of calm amid the sensitive atmosphere following her husband’s death.

Minaj’s participation in AmericaFest underscored the growing intersection of pop culture and conservative politics. Her presence at the flagship Turning Point USA event drew widespread attention, reflecting both her influence as a global music star and the interest surrounding her changing political views.
