ICLS Lahore Campus Inauguration Marks Legal Milestone
The International College for Legal Studies (ICLS) formally inaugurated its new purpose-built campus in Lahore on November 18, 2025. The campus is located on Main Kamahan Road, opposite DHA Phase V Extension. The inauguration marked a major expansion of the institution’s academic infrastructure.
The new campus was developed under the leadership of ICLS Chief Executive Officer and Dean Sarah Tarar. The project reflects the efforts of the college’s leadership team to strengthen legal education in Pakistan. The expansion aims to support academic growth and professional legal training.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by senior officials, academic leaders, legal professionals, and students. Minister of State Barrister Aqeel Malik attended the event as the chief guest. His presence underscored the importance of private-sector academic institutions in contributing to the development of Pakistan’s legal system. The guest of honour was Patricia McKellar, Dean of Undergraduate Law at the University of London, highlighting the international academic links maintained by ICLS.

Other notable participants included Saad Waseem, Regional Adviser for South Asia at the University of London, Usama Malik, Director of the Directorate of Legal Education at the Pakistan Bar Council, and Ben Lawton from the British Council. Each speaker emphasized the role of quality legal education in promoting rule of law and professional standards across Pakistan.
The ceremony formally began with a ribbon-cutting, symbolizing the opening of the ICLS Lahore campus. The facility has been designed to support a modern academic experience. It includes state-of-the-art lecture halls equipped with contemporary teaching tools, dedicated moot courtrooms that simulate real courtroom proceedings, and extensive research libraries intended to support in-depth legal study. These facilities are aligned with international teaching standards and are aimed at enhancing both academic learning and practical skills.
In his address, Barrister Aqeel Malik praised the ICLS administration for investing in infrastructure that supports the future of Pakistan’s legal sector. He noted that institutions such as ICLS play an important role in producing legally trained graduates who can contribute to justice, governance, and public service. Patricia McKellar, speaking on behalf of the international academic community, highlighted the significance of maintaining global benchmarks in legal education and commended ICLS for its continued collaboration with the University of London.
A key part of the event was the degree distribution ceremony for graduating students. Patricia McKellar and Barrister Aqeel Malik jointly awarded degrees, marking an important academic milestone for students who completed their undergraduate law programmes. The ceremony also included the presentation of awards to students named on the Dean’s Honour List, recognizing consistent academic excellence.

A special moment during the event was the recognition of Amina Siddiqui, who received the prestigious Bridged Cotter Prize. She was named among only four students worldwide to achieve exceptional performance at a global level, bringing international recognition to both the student and the institution. The award highlighted the academic standards maintained by ICLS and the competitiveness of its students on an international stage.
The inauguration also drew attention to the range of academic programmes offered at ICLS. The institution is a recognized teaching centre for the University of London’s LLB (Hons) programme, which is known globally for its rigorous curriculum in legal theory and analytical skills. Students at ICLS benefit from structured academic support, assessments aligned with international standards, and exposure to practical legal training through moot courts and research activities.
In addition to the LLB programme, ICLS offers the Certificate of Higher Education in Common Law. This qualification provides a pathway for students who wish to progress into the full undergraduate law degree. The college also supports candidates preparing for the Bar Transfer Test, enabling law graduates and professionals to meet international requirements and expand their career opportunities beyond Pakistan.
