Eid Moon Prediction
Earlier, the Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) predicted that Eid-ul-Fitr is likely to fall on March 21, 2026. According to its scientific calculations, the chances of sighting the Shawwal moon on March 19 are very low.
SUPARCO explained that at sunset on March 19, the age of the new moon would be around 12 hours and 41 minutes, with only about 28 minutes between sunset and moonset along Pakistan’s coastal regions.
Despite these scientific estimates, the commission emphasized that the final announcement will be made by the Central Ruet‑e‑Hilal Committee of Pakistan, which is the official authority responsible for confirming the sighting of the moon and announcing the start of Islamic months in the country.
