The accident adds to growing concerns about road safety in Balochistan, where long-distance travel often involves rugged terrain and heavy vehicles. Officials have emphasized that high-speed collisions between tankers and passenger coaches remain a serious threat in remote districts like Chaghi. Police and rescue teams responded promptly to the scene to assist the injured and manage traffic along the route.
In a separate aviation incident, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) reported a near-accident on flight PK-860 from Jeddah to Lahore on Friday night. Cabin pressure dropped shortly after takeoff, prompting automatic deployment of oxygen masks. The flight crew guided passengers in using the masks and coordinated with air traffic control to secure an emergency landing at Dammam Airport. All passengers were later transported to Lahore via an alternative flight, with no reported injuries.
Earlier this year, PIA flight PK-203 from Lahore to Dubai narrowly avoided an accident after colliding with a bird shortly after takeoff. The pilot requested an emergency landing and safely brought the plane down, carrying 150 passengers. PIA authorities confirmed that all necessary safety measures and support were provided to affected passengers in both incidents.
Officials continue to investigate the Chaghi collision and have urged travelers to exercise caution on the Reko Diq SITE road, particularly when crossing remote districts. Aviation authorities have reiterated safety protocols following the PIA incidents, highlighting the training and preparedness of flight crews in emergency situations.
